Well, I am retired USAF and unemployed, and living at the poverty level. When I was in the USAF I was always volunteering for many different charities, and always gave of my time. This is the first time I am unable to do this, in fact it seems now I am on the other side to where I need help. This is hard for me to blow my own horn, but I need help. being from the Air Force we learn not to complain just get the job done no matter the job.
My retirement pension pays for just the Mortgage and few other things. Two days before Thanksgiving I have an overdraft and because of the lost I have less money to buy my meal with. The bill that over drafted was for my power bill. Right now I am in my trailer and without any heat, see it cost too much but besides that it is not working correct. I had no AC this summer and I have been afraid to try the heat setting, and luckily I am from Wisconsin and have large GREENBAY PACKERS warm sweaters to wear. I live in Florida and luckily for me not to many cold/freeze warning here. Besides I don’t have money to pay for someone to fix it.
My life is in a 911; Mostly in the Kitchen. The cabinets are coming apart. the front are fine because they are solid wood. But the sides are press board and falling apart. The stove is questionable working, so I hardly use it. I have been using a indoor grill which is missing the dial so I use a pair of pliers. The dish washer is not working at all, so I have to wash the dishes By hand, but I have to cook water for hot water. The sink is always backing up, and chipped, no garbage disposal, so I have to be careful not to get anything in the drain.
The refrigerator is in real bad shape. I have to take a hammer to the bottom to take ice off the floor of the freezer. The floor is vinyl and coming off and apart and almost unclean able, the little countertops space I have is old and the countertops are vinyl and not that good.

I need to re-due the kitchen and I was thinking of doing the work myself however I don’t even have the money for the wood to do the work
Well one of the places I volunteered was SCOCKS (save or cats and kittens and no kill rescue), while there I saved a couple of Siamese cats, well the staff knowing this had a Siamese cat that needed rescue that I took in, I call her MAE (Thai for mother). She was a victim of the mortgage creases. She was pregnant when I took her, she had 5 kittens, cats now, so now I have 9 cats, all rescues.
Outside I live on a dirt road, no drive no garage. My yard is full of tree stumps left over from the hurricanes. No real grass mostly sandy soil with weeds, I have planted fruit trees and plants in the hope that in years I am able to harvest something to eat. But I was unable to afford real citrus trees so I have many plants and only can hope to see them grow to full bush; they seem to not do good in the winter. I buy all my plants and flowers only as they go on sale, usually end of season plants that are not the good ones but the ones they need to get rid of.
I have sinuses and have carpet; I would love to change to tile or hard wood. My wish would be to have solar panel power and would love to see it come at reasonable price.

The good news, that I have to be thankful for this thanksgiving Is that my girlfriend has finally, after over three year gotten her U.S. Visa. She is a Filipina who I met while stationed in Kunsan Korea, I visited her in the PI on the way and upon my return from Korea. Well she got a job as a maid in Cyprus (more like forced labor, they keep the passport and she works 12 plus hours daily.
Now I worry about trying to get her flight to USA, and Me. I worry about just the normal things other take for granted. I can hardly feed myself I now soon will have another to care for. She comes from poverty in the PI to come to poverty here in USA but she does have me to love her. With God’s blessings we can make it. I want to marry her, but I have so little money we will just be able to get a simple marriage and no honeymoon.

Now I blame myself for getting here. I was married for 17 years to a woman I loved very much. She now has a little girl not mine, so I am divorced, because she was pregnant by someone else while still married to me. So to get out of this situation after the divorced I took Korea, I figured it was the least dangerous of the war zones, (yes Korea is still a war zone) but the trade off was I got to choose my next location so I chose FLORIDA, and am so glad I did. Can you imagine me without heat somewhere else? I have debt and unable to seem to make my dollars stretch.
I have a car that needs work; I don’t have money for oil change. But I have a motorcycle and that is one of my few joys right now. I love to ride; another reason Navarre is paradise to me, the weather. It was great to have when gas was 4 bucks a gal. I have my cats to keep my company till I get my girl here; I also play some guitar to keep my sanity.
I need a job but I am unable to find one, each time I go to a job 12 maybe more are also getting in line for that job.
All I need is help to make this place better for my new wife to be, and me to live in. any little thing makes a difference.
